Belmont transmitting station viewed from Donington On Bain.

"From its location, high in the Lincolnshire Wolds, it broadcasts digital television and both analogue and digital radio to Lincolnshire, eastern Yorkshire, northern parts of Norfolk and some parts of Nottinghamshire"

"The mast was constructed in 1965 and it came into service on 20 December of that year. As built it was a tubular pipe 900 feet (274.3 m) long by 9 feet (2.7 m) in diameter, surmounted by a 365 feet (111.3 m) lattice upper section"

"In September 1967 meteorological equipment was added to the 1,265 feet (385.6 m) mast extending its height to 1,272 feet (387.7 m)"

"Between October 2009 and April 2010 the mast was shortened as part of the Digital Switchover works, most of the top section above the fifth stay level was removed (along with the sixth stay level) and the mast now stands 1,154 feet (351.7 m) high"

The tiny weighbridge hut survives near the entrance to the former station yard at Donington on Bain on the Louth to Bardney railway line, closed for passenger traffic in 1951 and 9 years later for goods.

Donington, at 70 metres above sea level, was the highest station on the line.

From here there were stiff climbs to tunnels through the Wolds to both west and east.

This accommodation bridge gave access for farm vehicles and like between fields either side of the Louth to Bardney railway line about half a mile west of Donington Station.

Platelayers had a regular job keeping the line in good condition.

This hut, at Donington Station, provided shelter and a safe store for tools.

It has been re-roofed but the timber sides are original.  It is now a small store for the local farmer.

Access to the station buildings was through the yard.

Both passengers and freight vehicles used the same entrance from the road.

The church of St Andrew, Donington-on-Bain, has a Norman tower and font.

The chancel arch and lancet windows are Early English. Traces remain of the lost north aisle.

There is an early seventeenth-century brass inscription to "the learned prudent pious Thomas Kent".

The fenestration of St Andrew's is irregular. There are single lancets on the south elevation illuminating nave and chancel.

Buttresses give evidence of repair work over the centuries.

Removal of a former north aisle presumably reflects a reduction in village population.
